This course is designed for people who are completely new to improv, have a bit of experience, or haven't improvised for a while and want to get back in the saddle. Anyone who wants to can do this course.
Over the 10 weeks of this course, you will learn the fundamentals of this wonderful artform. You will learn through group exercises, games and scenework and progress towards a grounding in both of the main improv styles - short form ('Whose line is it anyway?' style games) and long form (more character and scene based improv).
There will be an opportunity to perform in a friends and family show at the end of the course. This is optional, but most find they want to perform in the show by the end of the course.
PLEASE NOTE: this is not a casual course, we ask that people only sign up if they can make at least 8 of the 10 classes.
Improv is a load of fun, and anyone can do it! Great for building confidence, wellbeing and for being an outlet for play + creativity. We create safe and supportive enviroments in our classes, and they're run by experienced improv coaches.
We are delighted to offer all our courses in partnership with the wonderful Slow Theatre Company
Improv is a form of performance - often comedic, but also dramatic, where everything is made up on the spot. There are no scripts, just collaboration techniques and tools that allow us to build worlds from nothing at all. People often know improv from the TV show "Whose line is anyway?" - but this is just the tip of the iceberg! The possibilties are endless and anyone can do it.
