This workshop allows you to try out different styles of improvisation. Get away from comfortable patterns you fall into in every show, break the rules, try something new. Perhaps your characters are strong, but you find game difficult, maybe you are amazing at story, but you never have an emotional reaction. We all have go-to choices and playing in the same group can sometimes leave you as 'the one that does that'. Not any more! Let's shake it up.
Katy Schutte is one of the UK's top improvised comedy performers and teachers. She tours shows and classes around Europe and the US and teaches for Hoopla and The Maydays in the UK. Katy trained at Second City and iO Chicago and with teachers from the Annoyance, UCB, The Magnet and lots of other places.
Some experience needed for these classes, but not too much - send us a message if you're not sure.
Improv is a load of fun, and anyone can do it! Great for building confidence, wellbeing and for being an outlet for play + creativity. We create safe and supportive enviroments in our classes, and they're run by experienced improv coaches.
We are delighted to offer all our courses in partnership with the wonderful Slow Theatre Company
Improv is a form of performance - often comedic, but also dramatic, where everything is made up on the spot. There are no scripts, just collaboration techniques and tools that allow us to build worlds from nothing at all. People often know improv from the TV show "Whose line is anyway?" - but this is just the tip of the iceberg! The possibilties are endless and anyone can do it.
